A talk about the local stained glass of national significance at St Mary’s Church, Walmer, exploring the saints, stories and symbols in the beautiful stained glass windows.

Discover the hidden gems in the vast “Sea Window” dedicated in memory of the famous Walmer resident John Roget – Artist and Complier of the English Thesaurus – who lived opposite the sea in Walmer, and whose Blue Plaque is at 13 The Beach.
Enjoy the stories and symbols of 14 Famous Old Testament Heroes - including Moses and the 10 Commandments, Joseph and his famous coat, King David with his harp, Daniel of Lion’s den fame…and many more!

You don’t have to be a ‘churchgoer’ to enjoy the Art, Beauty and Stories in these magnificent windows - which have been bequeathed to us by past generations of Walmer and Deal residents!

Come, Sit, Discover, Gaze, Browse - and above all - Enjoy!

The talk will be given by Rev’d Dr Richard Warden, local resident and Chair of “The Christian Arts’ Trust”.
