Stephenson Trail Guided Walk - Elemore to Hetton Lyons

A short 2.5 mile ramble starting at Elemore Country Park, visiting Easington Lane Community Access Point (ELCAP) and on to Hetton Lyons Country Park.
Formerly a colliery and golf course Elemore Park is now a haven for wildlife. After a short walk around the park the walk will continue on to Easington Lane Community Access Point (ELCAP) to explore their outstanding local history collection before following in the footsteps of George Stephenson to Hetton Lyons Country Park - the home of the Hetton Colliery Railway - the world's first railway built for steam haulage.
Transport will be provided to take people back to Elemore Park.

Accessibility details

The walk will take place around the edge of a country park, using public footpaths that can be uneven and muddy after heavy rain. The walk will also utilise paved footpaths through urban areas. Please wear sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for the conditions.

Additional information

Light refreshments available at ELCAP and a cafe is present on site at Elemore where refreshments can be purchased.
