St. Wilfrid's Church, Selby Road, Halton, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS15 7NP
Striking Church Building completedin 1939 by Architect AlbertRandall Wells. Grade II listed building. The transepts are joined by a tower with a Wooded Spire at the crossinng, illuminated at night. Striking feature is the woodwork with seats of Ash Wood and Chancel woodwork from Columbian Pine, including choir stalls and pulpit. In the 21st century a grant was awarded for renovation of the roof and windows. The Church contains a sculture of St. Wilfrid by Eric Gill in 1939, Sculpture (Jesus Offers the Church to his Mother) and Our Lady by Irene Foord-Kelcey, 1951, Plaque (The Visitation to the Blessed Virgin Mary) Donated by Architect Randall Wells, The font is from Barton Church Doncaster and is fitted with asilver-gilt 18th century punch bowl, and Painted Icon by Ian Knowles. The Priest is Revd. Caitlin Carmichael-Davis, and services are held every Sunday morning at 10am.
