St Stephen's Church History Day

St Stephen's Church, Gargrave Road, Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 1PJ

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

St Stephen’s Catholic Church will be open for guided tours and privileged access to the Archives. The Gothic style Church building includes designs by AWN Pugin and is steeped in the history of the Tempest family of Broughton Hall.

St Stephen’s Parish invites you to visit our beautiful and historic Church. A newly published guidebook with colour photos provides information about the key features, statues, stained glass windows and stonework, including a reredos designed by AWN Pugin that depicts four scenes from St Stephen’s life. We will offer guided tours of the Church and privileged access to the Archives which will bring to life the history of St Stephen’s Parish, St Monica’s Convent and much more. Visitors will be encouraged to ask questions and share their own memories of St Stephen’s and St Monica’s. Between 11:00am and 3:00pm refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre, now part of the renovated St Monica’s Convent building. St Stephen’s also has its own Cemetery on site which is open to visitors. Free parking and disabled access.
