A chance to explore this fascinating 150 year old Grade II listed church, built in memory of engineer Parkin Jeffcock, killed along with 360 others in the 1866 Oaks Colliery explosion, to this day the worst mining disaster in England.

Discover specific features, such as the stained glass windows, especially the Chancel windows which depict Jesus above Meeshack, Shadrack and Abendigo, all enveloped in flames from the explosion.

Directions:
From the A61 drive down through the village veering left at a roundabout and in 200 yards church is on the left. From M1 exit 35 left onto A629 and down to Chapeltown; over first roundabout and right at second, up hills until on the flat area with a park on the left, the church is on the right (car park to north side of church: narrow entrance, take care!)
