St Peter’s Church offers much of interest to all visitors. This Grade 1 listed building, the only one in the Offords, boasts the four styles of medieval church architecture and is full of historical interest.

St Peter's Church, with its Norman arches to the north aisle dating from around 1130, shows the four styles of English church architecture. The south aisle has graceful Gothic arches. There is a double piscina in the chancel and an angle piscina with sedilia in the south aisle. There is much to see in here, including a mystery stone effigy, memorial brasses, a family alabaster monument, carved corbel faces and a possibly unique William Glasby stained glass window with memorial plaques below, which together form the Offord D'Arcy war memorial. Other interesting activities: Trace the descendants of our Mediaeval Knight Locate the homes of the Offord men who fought in the First World War on a village map of the time Study the records of the men who fought in WWI. The Friends of St Peter's have carried out extensive research on the men from both Offord Cluny and Offord Darcy who fought and died in the Great War Consider the effects of the 16th Century Reformation on the Rectors of St Peters and their Patrons Find out about the mystery of the stone Effigies Admire the memorial to, and learn the history of, the first inhabitants of the Offord Darcy Manor House We also intend to display late 19th/early 20th century maps of the village. Local residents will be encouraged to visit St Peter's and find their properties and with copies of the relevant census be able to research who lived in their homes.

Accessibility details

The church is accessed by a flat grassy footpath across the churchyard, however, it can develop an uneven surface due to animal activity. There is a level access into the entrance porch from the churchyard, with a ramp down into the interior of the church. Parking is available nearby. The grass path has had some more reinforcing mesh laid across it in an attempt to prevent animals digging holes.
