St Peter's is also the home to the Ipswich Charter Hangings created to commemorate the 800 year anniversary of the granting of the Royal Charter to Ipswich by King John in 1200; they depict Ipswich through the ages from the pre-Viking period through to the 20th Century.

There is also a rare Tournai Marble Font, dating back to 1130 and one of only a handful in the country; a magnificent East Window and has many Medieval, Tudor and Victorian architectural features.

Additional information

The Ipswich Charter Hangings were commissioned by the Ipswich Arts Association (IAA) and more information about them can be found on the IAA website. St Peter's was taken from the parishioners by Cardinal Thomas Wolsey to become the chapel to his College, sited next to the church, to act as a feeder to 'Cardinal's College' at Oxford, now Christ Church; lasting only a few years before he fell from grace all that remains is St Peter's and the water gate on the South perimeter wall.
