Witness the Art and science of Bellringing . Explore the Ringing Room: discover the 20 bells. Watch ringing. Hold a rope. See the ancient leather jack.

We are showcasing the art and science of Bellringing at St Mary’s Collegiate Church in the octagonal belfry. Ascend the spiral staircase to see the history and heritage of the bells. Watch ringing take place in the unique English style and try holding a bell rope. If you are interested in learning to ring you can apply for a course in Bellringing.
On the walls are boards recording the past performances of ringers celebrating many events. See the Stafford leather jack, a very unusual vessel. It carries the names of the bell ringers between 1750 and 1798.

Access requires climbing 60 steep uneven steps. No children under 10. Under 18's to be accompanied by an adult. An option is to climb up the ladder to the viewing platform: People who wish to do so will need a risk assessment.
