St Mary’s Church Shenley Church End Open Day

St Mary's Church, Dudley Hill, Shenley Church End, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK5 6LL

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

We are open for MK HODs and the Historic Churches Ride+Stride. Come to explore 800 years of history within our church. Allow about 30 minutes to see our displays and join a mini tour, then soak up the atmosphere in a quiet moment.

A warm welcome awaits at St Mary’s Church Shenley. We turned 800 last year which prompted an ongoing history project, the fruits of which are displayed on panels around the nave – tracking our history through the centuries, from the first recorded rector in 1223 to the present day.
A mini guided or self-guided tour will introduce you to the many historic features of the church – ancient graffiti, stained glass, architecture and memorials.
We have a wealth of stories to share about the heroes of the village who died during WW1 and are remembered in the church, in the graveyard and on the village war memorial.
As part of this year’s theme – Routes, Networks and Connections - we plan to share how the church connected then – and connects now - with the villages and areas around.
