Ever wondered what the Westgate part of Ipswich looked like in Medieval times? Which Royal Princess got married in Ipswich? Why do we worship the way we do? Come to St Mary Elms and find out

The church will be open as usual, but also will be filled with displays where visitors can find out about :

• What the Westgate quarter of Ipswich looked like in medieval times
• The Legend of Our Lady of Grace of Ipswich
• The sacraments, and how medieval practises link with what we do today
• How much, or how little, the local street pattern has changed over the years

There is much more to see including photographs of the ancient tower clock, which is the oldest in Suffolk, and information about some of the heroes on the war memorial.

Entering the church will also take you through the door which is a thousand years old and thought to be the third oldest door in the country.
There will be a display explaining what the symbols on the arch mean too.

The church will be open from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday and from 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday.
Please note there will be a said Mass at 9.00 am on Saturday and the Parish Eucharist will be taking place as usual from 10.45 am to 11.45 am on Sunday. Visitors are very welcome to join us.
