St Margaret's church

St Margaret's is a Grade II listed building and was dedicated on 9th November 1897. It was designed by London architect A.H.Hoole in the Early English/English Gothic style but with influences from continental churches. The organ was installed in 1903 and the reredos in 1908. The reredos is a particular treasure: the stone tracery is in Caen stone and the figures surrounding Christ are of Northern and Yorkshire saints.

Village church built in medieval times but nearly totally destroyed by fire in 1870. Rebuilt in Victorian style in 1872. Considerable repair and restoration work done in 2022 to celebrate 150 year anniversary including restoration of wall paintings
