The church of St Laurence dates back to 1239 and was probably the site of an earlier Mercian church. Much of the church was rebuilt between 1858 and 1861 by William Butterfield.
Features inside the church demonstrate its long history:
- A late Norman surround to the south doorway (dismantled/re-erected during the 19th century)
- Stained glass windows, some of which are 14th and 15th century design
- tomb effigy of a 14th century knight, said to be Sir John Blanchfront
- bell tower with a peal of 8 bells, dating from 1711
- large-scale re-building of parts of the church during the 19th century under the direction of William Butterfield
Our Church Hall - The Ark - was opened in 2006, winning the 2007 EASA President's Award for best Ecclesiastical Architecture
