St John the Evangelist

St John's is a Grade 1 listed church designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1863 to serve what was then the poorer end of Taunton. It was the first Church of England church in Taunton to have no pew rents. It has a very fine Father Willis organ installed from the very start of its ministry. Following its commissioning it enjoyed two important additions in its baptistry and the screen to the chancel.
We will be open from 10am to 3pm on the Saturday, and our usual Sunday Eucharist is at 10am. On Sunday afternoon at 3pm there will be a free piano recital to celebrate Franz Liszt.
