Victorian Parish Church on the Jack Phillips trail

St John the Evangelist Church, Farncombe was built in 1849 in response to the rapid population growth created by the railway. Designed in the early English Gothic style by Sir George Gilbert Scott RA. There is a tablet in memory of John George (Jack) Phillips, the wireless operator on the Titanic, as he sang in the church choir as a boy.
