St James with St Thomas Church. Poolstock. Wigan. Greater Manchester.

We are currently fundraising to refurbish and rehang the bells at our church and are actively looking for people to join our growing band of ringers. We are a friendly bunch of people and everyone is welcome. People will be invited watch the bells in full working order by way of CCTV that is fitted into the belfry. Refreshments are available on the day and there will be activites for children. We have a beautiful ornate church building with stunning ceilings and fresco's. We also invite photographers to enjoy the day bringing their own equipment to capture the light streaming through stained glass windows and to feel welcome to shoot both inside and outside of this wonderful church building. There will be ministry available on the day and if you would like a chat or a prayer then we will be more than happy to help. There is parking on the roadside outside of church and along Pool Street around the corner. The Leeds - Liverpool canal is just across the main road and this event would be a great stop over for people enjoying a canal barge holiday.

Please note that the tower is not accessible for disabled people. However there is access to all other parts of the church

There are 54 steps to the ringing chamber where you will find adequate seating while you catch your breath. Once here you will be given a short talk about our bells at St James and watch a display of change ringing. You will be given an opportunity to have a 'go' if you so desire. There are extensive grounds where you can walk around and the Leeds/Liverpool canal is just across the road.
