St. James' Church, Woodside, Horsforth
Low Lane, Horsforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS18 5QW
Last year St. James’ Church, Woodside, Horsforth, celebrated 175 years of serving the local community. We were delighted to welcome visitors for the Heritage Weekend to celebrate that occasion and would like to extend the invitation again this year.
We would like to share with you the opportunity to explore this Victorian Church which was designed by architect C.W. Burleigh and consecrated in 1848. The Church which has inevitably changed over the years but still retains some original features.
There are some wonderful stained-glass windows, including one which is a memorial to those who died in the First World War. There are various wood and stone carvings around the Church, including a beautiful octagonal stone font.
Children can hunt for our ‘Church Mice’ to help them find out more about the features of the Church. We will have a discovery trail to help guide you round the Church and a display of pictures and artefacts to help you find out about some of the people and events that have shaped it over the years. You will be able to find out about some of the ways in which the Church is serving the local community in the present day and our plans for the future.
All are welcome, including children.
Refreshments will be available in the adjacent Parish Centre.
