St Helens Rotary Heritage Trail Walk

Rotary St Helens in partnership with Parish Church and St Helens Borough Council, invite you to attend a heritage trail walk around the town centre. The walk is open to all ages and will last a maximum of 2 hours.
The heritage trail walk will take you on a journey of discovery finding out about the origins of how St Helens got its name and why this special town of ours grew during the industrial revolution. The walk will take in the UK’s first industrial canal, Sankey Navigation at Foundry Wharf. The walk will also include Beecham's, Tyrers, The Citadel, history of Bridge Street and Westfield Street, St Helens Town Hall, The Gamble Building, Friends' Meeting House, Foundry Wharf and Parish Church. The length of the walk is circa 1 mile.
This event is funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the ‘Creative Underground’ project, coordinated by St Helens Archive Service, part of St Helens Borough Council.

Toilets – Public toilets can be found in Tontine Market, Hardshaw Centre and St Mary’s Market. Parking – Pay and Display car parking can be found at Birchley Street, Hardshaw Centre, and Parr Street. Accessibility– The Heritage Trail is fully accessible as it uses public footpaths. There will be several roads and curbs to negotiate, no steps. Clothing – Dress according to the weather conditions and recommend sensible footwear.
