St Edburgha's Church
Church Road, Yardley, St Edburgha's Church, Birmingham, West Midlands, B33 8PB
Built between the 13th and 15th centuries the church forms the centrepiece of the old village of Yardley. There is a farm, now converted to residential properties, a blacksmith, cottages and a Tudor School House. Although in a suburb of Birmingham the old village is surrounded by parkland giving it a very rural feel. During works a few years ago a portion of fictive paneling was discovered. While common in residential properties this is only one of two such decorations known in churches. In the last year the stained glass windows have been restored. Refreshments will be available including our ever-popular home-made cakes.
