  • 08 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A guided walk around Silver End Garden Village. Built from 1926 to house the workers of the village Crittall factory. Of particular interest are the Modern Movement flat roofed houses of which 35 are grade II listed.

The walk starts from outside the Heritage Centre within the Village Hall (next to Co-op). See Francis Crittall's home; the largest village hall in the UK; the site of the department store; the Modernist telephone exchange; the thatched church; the managers detached flat roofed houses; the unique layout of the village and the many Modern Movement flat roofed houses the village is famous for.

The local guide, a member of the Silver End Heritage Society Committee, will point out features and places of interest during the walk, which is approximately two hours.
