Short films made by Oakwood Film Academy about The Man at the Oakwood Clock, making the film, and how The Friends of Rounday Park created an award winning garden (followed by a tour of the garden), followed by an illustrated history of the park.

This is a co-operation between local film-makers and The Friends of Roundhay Park. The Oakwood Film Academy is a non-profit making group which meets at Oakwood Parochial Hall on Thursday evenings with a view to creating short films about local activities and stories. All the films are under 20 minutes and there will be an opportunity for questions with those involved. The first film, "The Man at The Clock", is the heart-warming story of a lonely old widower who sits everyday under the Oakwood Clock, and finally forms a transformative friendship with a teenage girl. The second film, “The Making of The Man at the Clock”, which was made for under £200, shows how the film was scripted, shot and edited, and has brief interviews with those involved, including the actors who gave their services, all enjoying the experience.
The Friends of Roundhay Park have just received the King's Award for Voluntary Service. The third film, "The Friends' Garden", illustrates how a small local group of very dedicated Friends created (from a derelict part of Roundhay Park) a hidden gem of a garden, which achieved the Royal Horticultural Society's "Britain in Bloom" Platinum Award, its top rating. This will be followed by an option to visit the garden, which is close to Roundhay Mansion, or to see final presentation, a short but informative illustrated history of Roundhay Park.
