  • 13 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A chance to see Sheffield's wonderful collection of silverware & hear the stories behind these unique pieces.

Sheffield has received many gifts since the establishment of the mayoralty in 1845, much of this is in the form of silverware for the table or as presentation pieces given by individuals and organisations in the City and from further afield.
This special talk for Heritage Open Days by Sheffield Assay Office curator Emma Paragreen and Sheffield City Council's Heritage Champion Cllr Janet Ridler will focus on the collection of civic silver in the Town Hall’s silver room, where you will see many splendid and unique silver items on display.
This event has been organised in partnership with Sheffield Assay Office where precious metals have been hallmarked since 1773.
