Sheffield: A Civilised Place

Cathedral Court, Church Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S1 2LT

  • 07 Sep 2024
  • In person

A guided tour around the city centre, concentrating on civil engineering

You will see buildings and structures, various forms of transport (road, rail, tram and water) and the bridges they need. You will not see hidden essentials like water supply and drainage, but you will learn something about where they are. You will see different materials being used in different forms - all designed and constructed by engineers, applying science and using engineering principles. We will learn how special steels contribute to our world and learn about the key people involved in their inventions.

2.75 miles (4.4km) on city streets

This walk is in partnership with Sheffield Walking Festival
