Sausages, Cider and Steam - Open Day at the Robey Trust workshop
The Robey Trust Ltd, The Works, Parade Business Park, Pixon Lane, Tavistock, Devon, PL19 9RQ
Back by popular demand, the ‘Sausage, Cider & Steam’ gala will be open at The Works premises, near Drake’s Auctions. Come and take a look at the diverse range of 40+ steam and heritage artefacts on display, from the smallest of live steam trains to elaborate engineering projects in the bustling workshops, including Stumbles – Tavistock’s steam roller. There will be a fantastic assortment of working stationary steam engines, miniature steam trains and traction engines, running vintage tractors and mighty traction engines simmering away for entertainment, along with local craftsmen carrying out demonstrations! Lose yourself to the former era of steam, and learn about the fascinating agricultural and industrial engineering world of Robey & Co Ltd, and their link to Tavistock.. We are a 100% voluntary organisation, dedicated to the preservation and operation of everything steam and vintage. There will be ‘Round Robin’ steam-hauled trailer rides, operating to/from The Works every hour. A delightful selection of homemade cakes, locally sourced BBQ offering and Devon-based ciders will be available throughout the day as you walk around. Average visit time: 1-2 hours. Whilst entry and trailer rides are free, we do encourage donations.
