Saint Augustine's Church, Pendlebury
Saint Augustine's Church, Bolton Road, Pendlebury, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M27 8UX
The church is set back from the Bolton Road (the A666) in Pendlebury, Swinton in Salford City Council's area and in Greater Manchester. It was built at a time when the area was dominated by cotton mills and made to be seen above the mills. Bodley designed not just the church (and a tower that was never built) but also the complete design of the stained glass. It can be accessed either by walking through the churchyard from the Bolton Road or from the drive which heads to the (liturgically) west door of the church from the short street called, appropriately enough, Church Street. There is some limited parking space at the west door.

There is a movable ramp that can be put into position at the main doors to permit wheelchair access. Almost all of the church is then accessible, but there are steps at the High Altar.
Information sheets about the history of the church, the stained glass, and some information about the churchyard will also be available when the church is open. On the Sunday there will be a Sung Mass at 11am and any visitors for Heritage Open Days would be very welcome to join us for the service.
