Explore this historic landscape including the Mere, once part of Burton Manor estate, home of Henry Neville Gladstone, son of Prime Minister William Gladstone. Visit the remains of the Iron Age hillfort on Burton Point and discover the estuary’s past and the spread of the marshes, following the canalisation of the Dee in 1737.

Outside Wirral Heritage Open Days Open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day, 9am until dusk (up to 9pm in summer). Visitor centre open 9.30am to 5pm February to October, and 9:30am to 4:30pm November to January. Free entry to RSPB members, entry charges apply for non-members.
