Roundhay's Hidden Gem

St John's Church, Wetherby Road, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS8 2LE

  • 07 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

St John's Church was originally built for the Nicholson family who lived at the Mansion in Roundhay Park. Although rather off the beaten track it offers unusual insights into the history of North Leeds.

Closed for worship since 2007, the church is one of Leeds Civic Trust's 'At Risk' buildings in the city. Learn about the dedicated work being undertaken by The Friends of St John's who will be in the north churchyard for one of their open days. They will be happy to show you some important and interesting graves and chat about the history of the church. At 14.00 the Lidgett Players will be performing representations of some of the characters who are buried at St John's.
