River Radio at Exeter Custom House
Custom House, The Quay, Exeter, Devon, EX2 4AN
Art Work Exeter’s River Radio is a weekend of listening that will evoke the global connections of Exeter Custom House and its route to the sea through a non-stop 60 hour broadcast. The project has invited Exeter residents, artists and community broadcasters to explore the sounds and stories of the River Exe as it meets the historic quayside and Ship Canal – and bring them to life for listeners across Exeter and the world! Programmes will connect distant and more recent histories of the Custom House and quayside with field recordings, spoken word, sound art and local interest stories. There will also be a 'river jukebox' of sound art and music from international artists and composers. Drop in to our live listening station inside Exeter Custom House open 10am-4.30pm daily, where visitors will be able to chat to the community radio producers about their work. The live broadcast will be accompanied by events and activities in the Custom House and on the Quayside throughout the weekend.
River Radio is being produced in association with Exeter Custom House and Exeter Heritage Harbour. The project is part of Art Work Exeter’s cultural partners programme with Exeter Custom House supported by Exeter Canal and Quay Trust. River Radio is funded with the support of the Creative Arc Programme, an initiative funded by the University of Exeter, Exeter City Council and the UK government through the Shared Prosperity Fund.
