Presentations throughout the day on the Almshouses movement and Retford's Sloswicke's Almshouse Charity est 1658 in particular. Visitors will be able to view the Churchgate site and "Hospital" rebuilt in 1806.

Sloswicke's Almshouse Charity is one of Retford's oldest institutions dating from 1658. The Charity has 46 Almshouses at 4 sites around Retford Town centre and visitors will be able to hear about the Almshouse movement and the benefits of Almshouse living on life expectancy as well as the history of Sloswicke's and its buildings in Retford. Although the Charity has existed for 366 years it remains very active and has increased its estate in the town by nearly 50% in just the last 20 years with 5 new Almshouses on Union Street completed in 2023. Visitors will be able to look around the Churchgate site and view one of the flats.
