See Lancashire's cotton industry brought to life in the last steam-powered weaving shed in the world. A unique survivor of Britain's industrial age, Queen Street Mill tells the story of life in the cotton-weaving mills, and the innovation of engineers throughout the decades.

This Heritage Open Day you can explore the mill for free and see demonstrations of original textile machinery including our 130-year-old Lancashire Looms as well as a traditional handloom and spinning wheel.

With authentically dressed staff, entertainment, and exclusive access to some of the museums behind-the-scenes areas. Plus crafts activities for families and guided tours at 11:30am, 12:45pm, 2pm and 3:15pm.

Accessibility details

The mill still has it's original floors so we advise visitors to be careful as they can be quite uneven in places. We have a lift up to the engine house, but are unable to get mobility scooters in the lift.
