Quakers have been in Pontefract since the 17th century, and they contributed a great deal to the economy of Pontefract via a range of businesses.

The event consists of meeting at the Quaker Burial Ground in Pontefract, which is at the junction of Harropwell Lane with Southgate, next to the dentists'. There will be a short talk about the Burial Ground, which is in a conservation area, and we will then walk at a leisurely pace to Pontefract Quaker Meeting House, pointing out some of the Quaker businesses which existed in Pontefract. At the Meeting House, there will be refreshments.

The Burial Ground is not accessible to wheelchair users or those with mobility problems, but it can be viewed from the main road. The Meeting House is fully accessible. Please note that the on-site facilities are available only at the Meeting House. There are no facilities at the Burial Ground.
