Puttenham Barn Bunkhouse - Cycle event

Together with local Cycling UK groups, Puttenham Barn are running two FREE coordinated cycle rides through the beautiful countryside. This is to celebrate the connection between Puttenham Barn, now an eco-friendly bunkhouse, with other local hostels who are/have been part of the Friends of Nature network. With ride options for both leisure and keener cyclists, you can take in the fresh air of the country before finishing the day discovering the heritage of the barn. Depending on availability, there may also be the option to stay overnight at the barn on Saturday evening.

The shorter ride at the more leisurely pace is led by Brighton and Hove Cycling UK and meets at the café at the Sustainability Centre/South Downs Eco Lodge near Petersfield at 1000, setting off at 1045 (Total cycling distance: 30 miles/ allow 6-7 hours).

The longer cycle ride is led by Wantage Cycling UK and starts at the Court Hill Centre on the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire. (Total cycling distance: 60 miles/ allow 7 hours).

Both rides follow a specially designed route to see the best of the countryside. There will be time to stop off for lunch at a cafe, continue on to Puttenham Barn where you will be warmly welcomed with refreshments, and time to rest or explore the beautiful historic barn. Then either stay overnight at the Barn, or it's just 10 min to the nearest station for your journey home!

Please contact us to book a space on the ride. The rides are designed to be sociable with plenty of stopping opportunities, but Cyclists must be of a reasonable fitness level and able to cover the mileage in the time allowed. The longer ride will be at a faster pace.
