Priory Road Cemetery and Chapel will be open to the public in the morning for any persons who may want to trace interments of long-lost relatives or just look at the cemetery records which date back to the 1850s. Help will be available for anyone searching for specific graves.
The cemetery was established in the 1850s and the Chapel was built early 1800s by noted architect Robert Hutchinson who is also interred here. It was originally two chapels for separate non – conformist and Christian worship.
The cemetery contains several notable figures including Dion William Boucicault, who was the son of the famous Irish actor and playwright Dion Boucicault. He did not live in Huntingdon but died along with 13 others in the Abbots Ripton rail disaster which occurred on 21st January 1876 on the Great Northern Railway line. A new interpretation board was installed in January 2024 with more information on this disaster.
2 guided walks will also be taking place in the morning:
10:30am – Commonwealth War Graves.
11:30am - Notable Figures.
The event will be open at 10am and finish at 1pm.
Please note there will be no refreshments available, so people should bring a bottle of water/drink with them and also wear suitable shoes and clothing if attending a guided walk.

The walk is accessible and will be kept to main pathways. Please wear suitable footwear and be prepared for incluement weather. Refreshments are not available, so please bring a water bottle. There are no toilet facilites at this site.
