Poynton Colliery Railway Walking Tour

Anson Engine Museum, Anson Road, Poynton, Stockport, Greater Manchester, SK12 1RB

  • 14 Sep 2024
  • In person

Explore Poynton's industrial history with local historian David Kitching.

It's hard to imagine Poynton now as the thriving coal mining community it once was.

This themed walk will be looking at the Poynton Colliery Railway routes and some of the associated collieries.

This is generally easy going on surfaced footpaths and roads with a section across a grass field. We will climb about 150 feet to the top of the Prince's Incline. There are no stiles to negotiate. The walk will take about two hours. Stout footwear is recommended. Maximum number of walkers 20. Please no dogs.
