Comprising thousands of objects dating from modernity to as far back as 1790, the collection is housed at Okehampton Police Station, not normally open to members of the public. The collection contains 200+ years' of policing ephemera, including uniforms, equipment, weaponry, communications devices, civil defence kit, forensic sets, fingerprinting, and much more. Housed in 3 large storage rooms, benefit from a guided tour and introduction to the entire history of a profession in just a couple of hours!

Okehampton is a working police station. Pre-booking to visit the collection is therefore ESSENTIAL. Without pre-booking, entrance to the station will be refused. Parking at the police station is limited. Visitors are advised to park in Okehampton (a large, affordable, pay-and-display car park is at Waitrose) and walk 5 minutes up Exeter Road to the station. Visitors are to meet punctually in the police station carpark at the rear of the building whence the group will be escorted to the store rooms and offices. Toilets are available on site. Refreshments are available in Okehampton town.
