Peak Rail Rowsley South site tours
Peak Rail Rowsley South station Harrison Way, Harrison Way, Darley Dale, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 2LF
Peak Rail is a heritage railway which runs steam trains from Matlock to Rowsley South. Rowsley South is our operating base and the tour will include a presentation on the history of the line when open as part of the national network and under Peak Rail. This will take place in our exhibition coach at the end of the station platform. We will also visit the archives cabin where our historical collection is stored. After this we will walk over to the engine shed for a guided tour. The tour will involve significant walking and due to the uneven surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility. Participants will need to wear stout shoes and bringing rain gear is advisable. Steam trains should be running both days but fares for these are not included in the tour. The tours are timed to allow participants to have a train ride if they so wish. There are other preservation groups on site which may be open for personal visits. There is a large car park, buffet and shop on site.

The organiser (Mick Bond) has has significant hearing loss, please use text to contact him.
This tour is not suitable for people who use wheelchairs due to the narrow width of doors to the exhibition coach and archive cabin. There is also a small step to access the archives cabin. The surface from the car park to the engine shed is uneven and the access to the shed is narrow. The shed is a working environment and floors may be slippery. There are open inspection pits and there may be tools and materials for locomotives under repair in the walking area.
