Panshanger Park
Panshanger Park, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG14 2NA
Panshanger Park has seen many changes over the last 250 years. From a large country estate landscaped by Capability Brown and Humphrey Repton, to a sand and gravel quarry and now a country park great for wildlife and for visitors to explore.
During this Heritage open weekend, come and see the old stable block which was part of the Cowper estate in the early 1800s- and a working stable until 40 years ago. Now offices, you can still see the original stalls and tiling as it was when accommodating horses. There will be information about the history, geology and wildlife of the park. And for a more in-depth visit, look at some of the features of the Cowper estate or a wider explore of the site, then sign up for one of our guided walks or talks. Children’s activities will be available at the event.
Once you have explored the stable block, please enjoy the rest of the park looking out for other remnants from the old estate as well as the wonderful wildlife that lives here.
