Panacea Museum Behind the Scenes
The Panacea Museum, 11 Newnham Road, Bedford, Bedfordshire, MK40 3NX
A special opportunity to see collections and archives in store, find out about the items left to us by the Panacea Society and their unique story.
The Panacea Society was a twentieth century Christian community founded and led by women. Based in Bedford they came to believe that their leader was the Daughter of God and their garden was on the site of the Biblical Garden of Eden. Members of the Society anticipated the Apocalypse and looked forward to the return of Jesus at the Second Coming. As they awaited the new Millennium they lived as a community in Bedford; their headquarters is now the Panacea Museum.
