Nottingham Catholic Cathedral
The Cathedral Church of St Barnabas, North Circus Street, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, NG1 5AE
The cathedral will be open during its normal hours, subject to cathedral services and special events such as weddings and funerals. Leaflets will be available for those who wish to go round by themselves. On selected days (listed below) guided tours will include the crypt, not normally open to the public, in which there will be a small exhibition. On two days there will also be short talks presenting the cathedral’s art and architecture and in particular Restoring Pugin, the new project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which plans to restore the original decoration in the eastern chapels, begun under A.W.N. Pugin in the early 1840s and probably complete by the early 1850s. The project, which is just completing its development phase, has discovered remarkable schemes, hitherto almost entirely unknown. .
