ArtCare, which manages the history collections and archives at Salisbury District Hospital, is offering free guided city tours of Salisbury with an alternative focus on medicine, care and a public health viewpoint.

You’ll visit famous landmarks and see them from a new perspective, we’ll walk you through over 800 years of fascinating stories and places. Everything from Florence Nightingale, ghosts, Turkish baths, epidemics and medicine from war.

What do you do when you have left-over parts from spitfire engines that were built at secret workshops in Salisbury city during WWII? You give them to your local hospital pathologist to recycle and build an astounding invention… the first ever kidney dialysis machine. A game changer for life saving treatment.
