The intimate medieval manor house was originally home to the Lytes family, who lived here for several generations, from the 13th century until the 18th century. After years of neglect, Lytes Cary was lovingly restored in the early 20th century by sir Walter Jenner and his wife, Lady flora, and is arranged as it was in their time. a stroll around the Arts and Crafts-inspired garden beside the house reveals garden rooms, divided by high yew hedges, collections of topiary, sensuous herbaceous borders, orchards and manicured lawns. The Manor is surrounded by fertile farmland, wild meadows, woodland and flood plains.

Accessibility details
Due to conservation priorities light levels inside the manor can be low. Large print and braille guides for the house are available. Manual push wheelchairs are available for visitors, but it is advised to reserve these in advance of the visit. There are 3 big steps up to the tea-room. A wheelchair lift is available, please be advised the weight limit is 200 kg (31 stone). Paths around the side can be uneven, and slippery when wet, some areas are covered with loose gravel.

House open from 11am until 3.30pm: closed between 1pm to 1.30pm with last entry 15 minutes before closing. Last order in café 15 minutes before closing.
