Lewes High Street Walk
Lewes House, 32 High Street, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 2LX
The walk will start from Lewes House and proceeds along one side of the upper High Street to St Anne’s Church stopping at key points to look at some of the important historic buildings and points of interest e.g. The White Hart, Bull House, and Keere Street. It will return to its starting point on the other side of the street including stops at the town wall, castle, Town Hall and Market Tower.
The walk will be led by Michael Chartier who has a very wide experience of the town, having been both a Town and District Councillor for 36 years, with terms as Mayor of Lewes (most recently 2017-18) and Chair of Lewes District Council, before retiring from local politics in 2019. He also has had long-term involvement with other voluntary groups in the town, and has chaired several, including the Sussex Archaeological Society and the Governing Body at Lewes Old Grammar School.’

The walk takes place along public streets where there are areas of unevenness and narrow pavements. Being outside, inclement weather may be encountered and all participants should wear suitable clothing and footwear. The walk is anticipated to take between 1 hour and 90 minutes.
