Leeds Festival Chorus: Come and Sing
Leeds Art Gallery, The Headrow, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 3AA
Come and join one of Yorkshire’s leading choirs for a special Heritage afternoon of singing beautiful music and making new friends. With leadership from renowned Musical Director Simon Wright, we’ll learn choruses from Mendelssohn’s Elijah and finish with an informal performance at 1600. Music scores will be available to borrow on the day, courtesy of Leeds Music and Performing Arts Library but please feel free to bring your own if you have one. This is a FREE event for both singers and audience members.
The chorus was first formed to celebrate the opening of Leeds Town Hall in 1858 by Queen Victoria. Connect to the city's musical heritage by performing the same piece of music enjoyed by the Queen in 1858. Material from the Library's collections relating to the first Leeds Musical Festival will also be on display.
Immerse yourself in the historic atmosphere by visiting the Tiled Hall Cafe for some refreshments.
