Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Fairfield Road, Kingston upon Thames, Greater London, KT1 2PS

Kingston Museum, Art Gallery and Library are Grade II listed Carnegie buildings. The Museum tells the story of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames from its ancient origins to the current day, while the Library is a well used community hub.

Both the library and the museum were designed by architect Alfred Cox and opened in 1903 and 1904 respectively. Taken together they form a good early 20th century example of a public library, museum and art gallery complex surviving in continuous use.

During normal opening hours you are welcome to visit the buildings at your leisure, including the art gallery where the current exhibition, San Francisco in Kingston is on display. Marking the 120th anniversary of Kingston-born photographer Eadweard Muybridge’s death, the exhibition presents a magnificent panorama of San Francisco that Muybridge photographed in 1878.

Especially for the festival local tour guide Julian McCarthy will host two guided tours of the museum, bringing his own quirky view of the building and Kingston's history.
Please book for our guided tours at 10.00 and 14.00
