Keynsham Methodism in the footsteps of the Wesley's

Charlton Road, Keynsham, Bristol, Bristol, BS31 2JA

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Explore, see and listen to the history of Methodism from the 18th century to today. Our curators will introduce you to the story of how John and Charles Wesley, and Methodists since, have influenced the growth and development of life in Keynsham.

Visit this wonderful old Wesleyan Church built in 1887 with original features – a beautiful stained glass window, original coloured glass designs on all the other mullioned windows designed with cathedral glass. The new organ was installed a few years after the Church was built and each morning at 1100 our organist will be playing this wonderful pipe organ for your pleasure. Visit the Church gallery and learn what it is like to sit on the original hard wooden pews. The screen will provide photos Down Memory Lane; and there will be other various archive photos to view. We also have some octogenarian and nonagenarian members who will happily talk to you about their years in this Church and their involvement in its journey of vision and dreams through those years.

The Shopper`s Service at 1100 on the Thursday will recall our history with reflections of John Wesley the founder of the Methodist Church and include hymns written by John and his brother Charles. Which ever morning you visit you will be very welcome to come and journey with us.
