As part of the 2024 Heritage Open Days, our team of expert English Heritage Volunteers will be leading guided tours of this iconic site.

The world's first iron bridge was erected over the River Severn here in Shropshire in 1779. This pioneering structure marked a turning point in English design and engineering; after it was built, cast iron came to be widely used in the construction of bridges, aqueducts and buildings.

Join our knowledgeable volunteers to find out more about this fascinating site and it's history. Free tours are being held at 11:00 and 13:00 on 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 September.

Booking is essential. Parking is available at The Station Yard car park in Ironbridge. There is a charge for parking.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour start time.
