September 2024 is the centenary of Ipswich County Library. During the Heritage Open Days you will be able to view an exhibition curated by Suffolk Libraries and Suffolk Archives and take part in our Stone Seeking Quest.

View an exhibition that celebrates 100 years of Ipswich County Library, an impressive building located in the heart of Ipswich. See some of the original plans for the building and pictures of how most of the library used to look. The Northgate Room with its painted glass windows, moulded ceilings and oak bookcases is virtually unchanged. Information about the people featured in the windows will be available, these include Thomas Wolsey and other local historical figures The Stone Seeking Quest is aimed at people aged 10+ and families, will lead you on an exploration of the building and it's stunning architectural features, there are a wide variety of amazing animals, and other characters, depicted including lagomorphs and monkeys, we challenge you to find them all.
