Ingatestone Pedallers: walk

Market Place, Ingatestone, Essex, CM4 9EU

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

A special walk celebrating the work of Chelmsford naturalist, J.A.Baker.

The walk route covers part of ancient Writtle Forest which includes Mill Green Common. Nearby there is a Roman villa site, a location of a medieval hermitage and the site of a WW1 trench warfare and bombing school on part of the Common. Mill Green also gives its name to a type of pottery ware produced around here in the Middle Ages, examples of which can be seen in the V&A in London and the London Museum, as it was made for the London market and transported there. Two lovely pubs for stops too!: The Cricketers and The Viper.

*Please note that unfortunately the event on Saturday 14th has had to be cancelled*
