Hornsea - NCI coast watch
Upper Promenade, Hornsea, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU18 1NJ
Hornsea Coastwatch station opened in 2019 in response to a local need to safeguard residents and visitors against the perils that can arise along our coastline. Thirty years ago, National Coastwatch Institution, a national charity, was born! Today, there are over 60 such lookout stations around the coast. Five and a half years ago, Princess Anne, our Patron, graciously opened our station in Hornsea. Located on the upper promenade, by the Marine Pub, which is an ideal position to see many miles south of us and many miles to the north, in fact it is the only location in Hornsea, giving us such a view and allowing us to help keep the cliffs, beaches and inshore waters safe for everyone. Additional volunteers will be on site during the day to give visitors a briefing on the activities of NCI and show them some of the equipment being used.

The station is not large and only a small number of visitors will be able to enter the station at any one time. Please be patient and talk to our volunteers )expanded for the day) who will explain all we do. Be aware that if there is an emergency then all visitors will be asked to leave the building.
