Historical Talk and Tour of The Walpole Bay Hotel and Museum, Margate
Fifth Avenue, Cliftonville, Margate, Kent, CT9 2JJ
The Walpole Bay Hotel, built in 1914 and extended in 1927, is a family-run hotel, owned by the Bishop family since 1995. The owner, Jane Bishop, will conduct a guided tour of the hotel and tell a little of its long history. The hotel incorporates a Living Museum, with all floors packed with exhibits. Enter the hotel by the original marble steps, dating from 1914, and take the marvellous trellis-gated Otis lift, installed in 1927 and still working perfectly. In the reception and on all five floors are items of interest. Being taken on a guided tour of this amazing building by Jane Bishop is an opportunity not to be missed.
