Historic Tours of Fort Cumberland, Portsmouth

The tour will include the bastions and ramparts with their gun emplacements of various dates, and the magazines. Visitors will also see a small prison cell known as the Black Hole, the well-preserved High Angle Fire battery of 1890-4, and a mid-20th century cinema/theatre.
The tour includes steep ramps, uneven ground, unfenced drops requiring caution and rough vegetation including nettles and brambles. Access to the cinema/theatre is by means of an external staircase only.
The wearing of stout footwear and long trousers is advisable, and dress for the weather as the majority of the tour will be outdoors.
Some areas are not wheelchair, pushchair or pram friendly.
Dogs are welcome on the tour but must be kept on a lead at all times as there are foxes and other wildlife on site. The tour will last approximately 2 hours
